Father الأب אבא

Trickster Orchestra & Chor zur Welt

“Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.”

Genesis 22:10

“Then Abraham reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son” – so it is written in the first book of Moses, the first book of the Christian Bible and the Jewish Tanakh. This concert project is a new collaboration of the Trickster Orchestra and the Elbphilharmonie’s own Chor zur Welt (World Choir) that includes singers from many different nations. The concert explores the ambivalence and corporeality of faith, forging a new composition that merges improvisation, Early music, and modern music. The libretto is created by the philosopher, theologian, and author Senthuran Varatharajah.

This program was created in the framework of Hamburg’s International Music Festival 2022.
